Patients treated (2020/2021)
Physiotherapists provide physiotherapy input to patients with a variety of musculoskeletal, neurological and other complex conditions; to monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.
The physiotherapist has a duty of restoring a person to their optimal functional potential from the physical problems such as paralysis, excessive muscle weakness, pain, sensory loss, balance impairments and eventually functional loss. Physiotherapy uses techniques such as relax muscles when tight and stimulate muscles when weak. The physiotherapist guides the patient to perform a particular movement and may learn to execute movements with better control and less assistance.
