Women's Day 2023: Women commended for role in the hospital and country development
The Director General of Ndera Neuropsychiatric Teaching Hospital has appreciated the women staff for their contribution to the development of the Hospital and the country.
He delivered the message this Wednesday, on March 08, 2023, in the ceremony to celebrate International Women's Day, as Rwanda joined the rest of the world to observe the international day under the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”.
Held in the Hospital’s multipurpose hall, the ceremony brought together the staff members from both CARAES Ndera and Icyizere Psychotherapeutic Center, with the women especially well dressed for the occasion.
In his remarks, the Director General of the Hospital, Brother Charles Nkubili, introduced by appreciating women for good organization of the special day and the cultural dances. He said: "You, women, are the protectors of Rwandan culture, we appreciated that."
He went on and appreciated the women staff for being there throughout the development of the Hospital.
"If you remember where we came from, for example when you look at how it was back in 2000 and how it is today, it is very clear that women have played a big role in the development made at the hospital," he declared.
He added; "When you look at the country's achievements, you see women behind it, women are also making a tremendous contribution to the development of their respective families, even more than before."
He explained that organizing the event also has a particular importance; "When you see us here, celebrating you, it is because we value your role, it is also to remind you that we will always support you."
Aline Flora Nakuzwe, Head of Icyizere Psychitherapeutic Center, who spoke on behalf of the women staff, appreciated how women are valued and supported by the Hospital management.
"Today we stand here, not to request anything, but to give our gratitude to you," she said. "We pledge that we will stay focused on our daily work and strive to improve it," she added.
International Women's Day (IWD) is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women's rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
