THE HOSPITAL CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL LABOUR DAY 2023

On Friday, May 05, 2022, the management and staff of Ndera Neuropsychiatric Teaching Hospital joined the rest of the world to celebrate the International Labour Day 2023, under the theme: “Let's promote skills, productive and decent jobs for our common better future.”

The day was started with the celebration of mass at St Rene Chapel, followed by a volleyball match between CARAES Ndera and CARAES Butare, which ended with the victory of CARAES Ndera, 2 sets to 1, before the ceremony proceeded at the multipurpose hall.

Mr. Jean Claude Musabyimana, the Acting Director of Administration and Finance, delivered the welcoming remarks and the message from the Ministry of Public Service and Labour for all staff, recognizing the role of workers in the development of the country and calling for excellent performance and quality service delivery.

In his speech, he also informed the state of the Hospital and its achievements. He also communicated the suggestions from the staff.

Mr Jean Claude announced this year's top performing staff, namely; Mr. Oscar Hakizimana from the Nursing Department, Dr Rutakayile Bizoza from the medical department, Ms. Regine Uwizeyimana from the Allied Health Services, Dr Claudine Rugoma from CARAES Butare, Ms. Uwamahoro Mathilde from Icyizere Center and Mr. Prudence Hozana from Administration and Finance Department.

The overall best employee is Mr. Oscar Hakizimana from Nursing Department. Mr. Hakizimana thanked everyone for appreciating his performance, and passed his request to the leadership, which was in line with this year's theme; more capacity building for the staff to boost performance. 

Director General Br. Charles Nkubili wished the staff a happy Labour Day, congratulated the best performers, and encouraged all staff members to do their best to provide quality services. He said that on this day, we reflect on how our respective jobs have changed our lives and thank God for it, and commit to improve the performance in the interest of our clients, ourselves and our country in general.

The Director General called for patience as the staff wait for the implementation of the new structure, also adding that the government has good plans for health sector workers, regarding salaries, performance bonus and horizontal promotion, among others. 

The International Labour Day, also known as International Workers Day, is annually observed on May 1 all over the world, to recognize the contributions of workers in society.
