The Neuropsychiatric Unit is one of the key clinical departments at Ndera Neuropsychiatric Teaching Hospital. It provides specialized care for mental, emotional, and neurological disorders. Our multidisciplinary team offers diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation through compassionate, evidence-based approaches, while contributing to training, research, and Rwanda’s national mental health development.

Prof. Dr Fidèle SEBERA

Prof. Dr. Fidele SEBERA is a neurologist, and Acting Director of Neuropsychiatric Unit at Ndera Neuropsychiatric Teaching Hospital. He has extensive experience in neurology and research. He holds a Master’s Degree in Neurology from Universite Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar, Senegal and a Medical Degree from Universite Nationale du Rwanda, School of Medicine. He holds certificates in Clinical Neurophysiology from Centre Hospitalier Régional de Namur and Hôpital Neuro Psychiatrique Saint-Martin, Belgium, and also has certification in neuro-oncology from Hôpital Universitaires Pitié Salpêtrière de Paris, France.

Prof. Dr. Fidele SEBERA holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Ghent University, Belgium.

Previously, Prof. Dr Sebera served as Head of Pharmaceutical Department at Medecin Sans Frontiere (MSF Rwanda). He is also Head of Neurology Department at Ndera Neuro-Psychiatric Teaching Hospital since 1999 (1999-2002 & from 2006 to date).

As Director of Neuropsychiatric Unit, Prof. Dr Sebera is responsible for coordination of all medical activities within the hospital, monitoring the implementation of protocols and therapeutic regimens and heading the meeting of Medical staff.
